When do you need to replace mower pulley?

  • If a pulley is badly worn, it can cause a bad vibration from the cutting deck on your lawn tractor. To check all your pulleys, start by removing the mower deck. Next, remove the mandrel covers and belt, then check all the pulleys for play and roughness when spinning. Be sure to check the inside of the pulleys for wear, or any other signs of damage. If you notice any of these signs, you should replace the pulley.
Tips for installation

  • When changing the deck idler pulley, it is advised that you also replace the associated belt to ensure the best performance.
Notice

  • Please double check the idler pulley is in the deck system, because there are different sizes of idler pulley in the mower.
  • Typically, on Exmark Mowers there are two Idler pulleys mounted to the deck and one on the Idler Arm and vary in size. And on Toro mower there are three, please make sure this 116-4667 is for the deck assembly system.

To complete this repair you would need a Wrench and Pliers.

  • Remove mower deck
  • Loosen bolt that secures the pulley and remove Drive belt
  • Remove bolts and washers from pulley
  • Replace the old Pulley with a new one
  • Secure the pulley and install the belt
  • Reassemble mower deck
